Shane didn’t grow up with everything handed to him. Raised in Claremont, Queensland, by a single mum with his sister, life was tough, money was tight, and his dad wasn’t around. At 11, he walked into a boxing gym for the first time - and everything changed. Boxing gave him purpose, discipline, and a reason to show up.
By 17, he had won his first state title. After stepping away at 19 to join the Navy, Shane returned to boxing at 22, building a career defined by grit: 27 wins, 6 losses, and an Australian Heavyweight Championship. But his real legacy wasn’t in the ring - it was in people. He founded Raiders Boxing Club in Karratha, a not-for-profit gym, coaching fighters, building pathways, and changing lives. His proudest moments include his son Matty winning the National Golden Gloves, Mitch Lederman representing Australia at World Titles, and helping the next generation chase their dreams.
In 2024, Shane moved to Perth with his family. With the support of his fiancée Sarah, he founded Phoenix Boxing Club - a gym built on starting again, rising, and creating opportunities. As WA President of ANABA and an Australian coach, Shane provides pathways for amateur and professional fighters while fostering purpose, confidence, and community for everyone - youth, women, and fighters alike.
At Phoenix, it’s more than training. It’s a family. A place where discipline, respect, and effort are everything, and where everyone is encouraged to rise together. Begin with our 14-day trial and discover what it means to belong, grow, and become your best self.
